Why community banks need decision governance

Community banks compete on relationships, and those relationships rest on decisions: who is onboarded, which alerts become suspicious activity reports, how customers are treated, how disputes are settled, which loans are approved. Regulators expect the same discipline as of a larger bank, from far fewer people. Decision governance oversees every decision without adding a team to do it.

Why one control layer beats many point tools

Every extra tool is another vendor, another process and another set of evidence to reconcile. One layer gives fuller coverage with fewer moving parts, one standard for people and AI, and a clearer account for examiners than a sample can give.

Oversight, intervention and remediation, together

Prisma evaluates each decision against your policy and the rules that apply, detecting violations and ambiguity and recording the reasoning. When one falls short, it intervenes, applying consequences and feedback to the person or the AI behind it. Remediation turns that into better behavior, so performance improves and stabilizes over time, and the evidence of every judgment is kept.

Frequently asked questions

Decision governance is the oversight of the decisions a community bank makes, by people or by AI, against its policies and the rules that apply. It steps in when a decision falls short and feeds what it finds back so that behavior improves.

It depends on the charter. The OCC supervises national banks, the Federal Reserve state member banks, and the FDIC state nonmember banks, together with the state banking department for state-chartered banks. FinCEN administers the Bank Secrecy Act and OFAC administers sanctions.

The CFPB supervises directly only banks above $10 billion in assets. Its rules apply to all banks, and for smaller banks the prudential regulator examines compliance with them.

Prisma evaluates every decision against your policy and detects violations and ambiguity, with the reasoning, and escalates only the decisions that need a human decision. Your people spend their time on the cases that matter.

Onboarding, financial crime and conduct oversight, then customer disputes, underwriting and AI governance.

No. They keep doing their work. Prisma reads the decisions that come out of them, including those of vendor and AI tools, with the same standard it applies to people, intervenes when one falls short of policy, and keeps the evidence.
